Mattie was a Research Associate for the Design for Diversity project, funded by IMLS National Forums. She received an MLIS in Archives Management and M.A. in History at Simmons University. Her research interests include highlighting the importance of material culture in understanding long over-looked peoples, the experiences of African Americans in Central Appalachia, and efforts to make archives more accessible and welcoming to all individuals.
